The DOE Secretary of Energy Advisory Board (SEAB) Fusion Task Force (FPN99-10, 14, 15, 19) will hold its third meeting May 26-27 at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Livermore, CA. The meeting is open to the public.
To facilitate entry to the meeting, persons planning to attend are requested to advise Ms. Sherry Graham, (925)422-4958, (graham16@llnl.gov), providing the following information: Name, Affiliation, Title, Business Address, Phone and Fax Numbers, Citizenship and Social Security Number. Non-US citizens are also asked to provide Place of Birth, Date of Birth, Country of Citizenship and Passport Number and Expiration Date.
The meeting will be held in Building 123, next to the cafeteria, which is located off Vasco Road (Mesquite Way Entrance to parking lot). There is no need to go into the Westgate Badge Office, which is also located off of Vasco Road. If you are proceeding along Vasco Road from I-580, go past the Westgate Drive entrance to the next lab entrance, which is Mesquite Way.
The meeting will start at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, May 26. After opening remarks by the chairman, Dick Meserve, presentations will be given on the following subjects in the morning: Laser Fusion Concepts and Development Strategy; Average-Power Krypton Fluoride Lasers; Average-Power Diode-Pumped Solid State Lasers; Common Direct Drive Physics Issues; and Target Fabrication and Injection.
In the afternoon, presentations will be given on: Direct Drive Ignition on NIF; Non-Proliferation Considerations and International Collaboration; Linkages to Other Fields of Science and Technology Spinoffs; and Participation of Colleges and Universities in Fusion Research. A public comment period is scheduled at 4:45 PM.
On Thursday May 27, the meeting will again begin at 8:30 AM. Presentations will be given on: Introduction to the Indirect Drive Approach to Inertial Fusion Energy -- Strategy and Connection to the Defense Program's Inertial Confinement Fusion Program; Heavy Ion Drivers; Chambers; Pulsed Power; NIF and X-ray Driven Ignition; and Inertial Fusion Energy Development Plan Strategy. A public comment period is scheduled for 12:30. The meeting is scheduled to adjourn at 12:45.
