The experimental program of the Centre Canadien de Fusion Magnetique (CCFM) came to an end in November 1998 and in January the Board of Directors approved a plan for dismantling the equipment.
Rather that proceeding with the irreversible demolition of the tokamak "TdeV" and its ancillary systems, the Centre is searching for other fusion research centres that might be interested in acquiring this equipment.
Available equipment includes the TdeV tokamak, associated power supplies, auxiliary equipment such as cooling and vacuum systems, diagnostics including a diagnostic neutral beam, as well as high-frequency auxiliary heating and current drive systems. The Centre says, "This equipment, which was substantially upgraded in 1996, is in excellent condition and could be used to help carry out valuable fusion research for years to come."
The Centre says that "Preference will be given to purchasers interested in acquiring the largest selection of equipment, with the conditions of sale to be established by negotiation."
