Remembering Nuno Loureiro

This week the world's fusion community suffered an unspeakable loss with the tragic death of Professor Nuno Loureiro. Nuno was an exceptional physicist and the Director of the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center. He was a leader committed to developing fusion and educating the next generation of scientists.

There are no adequate words to express our sadness to his family, to the fusion community, and to MIT.

Nuno was a member of the Fusion Power Associates (FPA) Board of Directors. At the recent 2025 Fusion Power Associates Annual Meeting, he gave an excellent and inspiring presentation.

Nuno will be forever remembered and forever missed.
