The position description reads in part: The position will perform research and characterization for fusion energy systems including development of improved tritium extraction, hydrogen isotope separation, tritium/hydrogen permeation barrier development, and He-3 generation in fusion energy components. Tritium extraction technology development will include investigation of tritium permeation as well as electrochemical technologies for tritium extraction. The position will also investigate synergies between fusion energy and tritium science applications that improve tritium production technologies and gas transfer systems. The position will improve the properties of solid electrolytes and other critical materials for use in isotope separation technologies that can be applied to the tokamak exhaust processing as well as make isotope processing more continuous. The position will perform characterize applications and components using a variety of techniques including Temperature Programmed Desorption (TPD), RGA or MS, TEM, SEM, XRD, and other relevant methods.
