Dr. Mandrekas has already been serving as the Acting Director, Research Division. He has been a senior program manager for the Theory program and the SciDAC program. Recently, he has been involved in establishing the INFUSE public-private partnership program and the new FES research involvements in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and also Quantum Information Science. Before joining DOE, he was a senior research scientist at Georgia Tech. His PhD in nuclear engineering was from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
