New Book: Plasma Physics and Fusion Plasma Electrodynamics

August 25, 2016

Oxford University Press is publishing a 2688-page graduate-level textbook by the late Professor Abraham Bers of MIT: Plasma Physics and Fusion Plasma Electrodynamics. The book has over 600 illustrations, 350 exercises, and 7 appendices on applied mathematics.

Among the topics covered are a comprehensive treatment of waves in plasmas, and their use in heating and current generation in magnetic confinement fusion devices. There is also a unique and detailed chapter on absolute and convective instability analysis which is of general applicability in physics and engineering; and a detailed treatment of kinetic instabilities in plasmas in a magnetic field -- including relativistic instabilities.

The book (ISBN 978-0-19-929578-4) is being offered at a 20% discount ($280) online by the publisher using promotion code ACFLYP8 at checkout at http://www.oup.com/uk until October 31, 2016. The book will be issued October 11.
