Symposium on the Future of Nuclear Energy Proceedings Posted
March 7, 2013
A Symposium on the Future of Nuclear Energy was held at the Georgia
Institute of Technology on November 1, 2012. The Symposium included
sessions on i) nuclear energy in the near term, ii) closing the nuclear
fuel cycle, and iii) nuclear energy in the future (fusion and
materials). The Proceedings including the presentation slides are now
online at
www.ne50.gatech.edu
under the "Proceedings" link.
In the final session (on fusion) talks were presented by Mickey Wade
(General Atomics) on the present status of magnetic fusion, Brad Nelson
(ORNL) on ITER progress, and Bill Stacey (Georgia Tech) on the path
forward from ITER to fusion power. Steve Zinkle (ORNL) closed the
symposium with talk on advances in materials research for both fission
and fusion power plants.
