EPRI to Initiate Fusion Review July 19-21 in Palo Alto

The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) will initiate a an "assessment of the potential for fusion energy power production" with a by-invitation-only workshop July 19-21 at its Palo Alto, CA headquarters. EPRI says it will "review the status of each of the most significant fusion energy power initiatives and identify the challenges which each must overcome before that technology can be commercialized."

The workshop will include presentations to a group of EPRI advisors in the areas of tokamaks (Princeton, General Atomics and UCSD), magnetized target fusion (General Fusion), colliding field reversed configurations (Helion Energy), laser fusion (LLNL and NRL) and fusion-fission hybrids (U.Texas and Georgia Tech).
