U. Illinois to Honor Emeritus Professor George Miley April 15

The University of Illinois will host a one-day Nuclear Energy Research Conference April 15 to celebrate Emeritus Professor George H. Miley's 50 years of research and teaching at the University of Illinois. The day will feature presentations and panels on fusion, lasers and inertial electrostatic fusion. Many of Professor Miley's former students and friends will attend. There will be an honors banquet in the evening.

Prof. Miley has long been known for encouraging keeping an open mind on the various approaches to fusion power and has been a tireless advocate for innovation and new ideas. He has also been active in various aspects of nuclear energy in general. For many years he was editor of the American Nuclear Society journal Fusion Science and Technology.
