Academies Inertial Fusion Review Committee Schedules Second Meeting

The Committee formed by the National Academies National Research Council to review the prospects for inertial fusion as an energy source will hold its second meeting January 29-31 at the San Ramon (CA) Marriott. Most of the session will be open to the public. Persons wishing to attend should contact David Lang: dlang@nas.edu

The agenda consists primarily of presentations from the major inertial fusion groups: LLNL, LBNL, SNL, U.Rochester, NRL, and LANL. The draft agenda may be viewed at http://www8.nationalacademies.org/cp/projectview.aspx?key=49265 and click on "meeting 2".

The Academies has also appointed a second panel to support the main committee. This second panel, chaired by John Ahearne, will address inertial fusion target physics, including classified data. The target panel will hold its first meeting February 16-17 at Keck Center, 500 5th Street NW, Washington, DC. Persons wishing to attend those portions of the meeting open to the publice should contact LaNita Jones: ljones@nas.edu
