Romanelli Takes Chair of EIROforum

Francesco Romanelli, Leader of the European Fusion Development Agreement
(EFDA) and the Joint European Torus (JET) fusion project, is also now
chair of the EIROforum, the European Intergovernmental Research
Organizations forum. The EIRO consists of seven partner organizations
representing such diverse research areas as fusion, molecular biology,
high energy physics (CERN), the European Space Agency, astronomy, the
European Synchrotron Radiation Facility and neutron source research for
condensed matter, chemistry and biology. The purpose of the forum is "to
play an active and constructive role in promoting the quality and impact
of European research."
Romanelli notes that, "Speaking as a group, the EIROforum has forged
debates about the whole range of science and policy issues for the
European Research Area."
He will be speaking at Fusion Power Associates 31st Annual Meeting and
Symposium: "Fusion Energy: Focus on the Future", December 1-2 in
Washington, DC.
