Najmabadi Elected ANS Fellow

Prof. Farrokh Najmabadi, University of California San Diego (UCSD), has been elected to the rank of Fellow by the American Nuclear Society (ANS). Election to the rank of Fellow recognizes the contributions that individuals have made to the advancement of nuclear science and technology through the years. Prof. Najmabadi will be recognized at the ANS annual meeting, June 13-17 in San Diego.

Prof. Najmabadi earned this recognition for his extraordinary research initiatives and contributions to fusion science and technology, his dedication to nuclear/fusion engineering education, and his service to the ANS. In particular, he is recognized for his "game-changing" seminal work and leadership on the ARIES series of fusion power plant studies that had a major impact on the world fusion development path.

Prof. Najmabadi is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Director of the Center for Energy Research at UCSD. He is also currently Chairman of Fusion Power Associates Board of Directors. He can be reached at: fnajmabadi@ucsd.edu
