FESAC to Meet August 4-5

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Fusion Energy Sciences Advisory
Committee (FESAC) will meet at the Gaithersburg (MD) Hilton August 4-5. The
FESAC will hear the latest DOE news from DOE Under Secretary for Science
Ray Orbach, and Associate Director for Fusion Energy Sciences Ray Fonck.
The Committee will also hear progress reports on two ongoing FESAC studies
on Alternate Concepts and High Energy Density Physics, respectively.
Other topics on the agenda include presentations on the use of "Technical
Readiness Levels" for planning and implementing new technologies, the
results of a workshop on low temperature plasma physics, a "white paper" on
fusion diagnostic development needs and the status of research on
plasma-materials interactions.
