In an April 22 letter, panel chair Dave Hill asked the alternates community to self-organize to prepare one "succinct (10-15 page) report for each of four concepts the panel will review: stellarator, spherical torus, reversed field pinch and compact tori (spheromak and field-reversed configurations). He requests the reports by end of May. The panel is due to complete its work by October.

Hill also indicated in the letter that he is planning to make "a more general call to the broader fusion community for 2-page web-based submissions and will be inviting representatives from each concept to meet with the full panel, most likely in early July."
