FESAC Meeting and Fusion Day, Feb 19-21

A public meeting of the Department of Energy's Fusion Energy Sciences Advisory Committee (FESAC) will be held February 19-20 at the Hilton Hotel, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The meeting will begin at 8:30 AM on February 19 and end around noon on February 20. Major topics of discussion are expected to the the recent ITER budget cuts for Fiscal Year 2008 and the President's FY 2009 budget request. The FY 2009 budget request is scheduled to be released on February 4. The FESAC is expected to get new charges from DOE to review inertial fusion and alternate (non-tokamak) research efforts. On February 21, interested persons are invited to participate in "Fusion Day" on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The event will begin with a non-host breakfast at Tortilla Coast restaurant at 8:30 AM. The restaurant is located near the Capitol South Metro station. Participants will have an opportunity to visit the offices of many congresspersons during the day and will also get together for lunch at the House of Representatives Longworth cafeteria.
