In the former role, he will support a national effort to determine how an ST facility could be used as a component test facility (CTF) to help establish the needed physical and engineering sciences knowledge base for a fusion demonstration power plant. In the latter role, he will serve as a US member and inaugural chair of the International Energy Agency (IEA) ST Executive Committee.

Martin, who remained an Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) employee while stationed at PPPL, will relocate back to ORNL.

John Menard, of PPPL, has been named to succeed Martin as NSTX Program Director, with Stan Kaye, also of PPPL, as Deputy.
