DOE Puts PPPL Up for Bid

The Energy Department (DOE) has issued a "notice" (DE-RP02-07CH11466) that it will accept bids to manage the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL). The DOE's current contract expires September 30 of this year but DOE will be providing an extension since it will not be ready to issue the request for proposals until later this year. They hope to complete the bidding process in late spring 2008. "Expressions of interest" to this noteice, however, are due May 25, 2007 to Marlene Martinez (630)252-2080; marlene.martinez@ch.doe.gov

Princeton University, which has managed PPPL for 56 years, is expected to bid to maintain the contract. According to the notice, PPPL has a budget of $80 million and a staff of 397.
