Tillack Named FPA VP for Communications

Dr. Mark S. Tillack (University of California, San Diego) has been named
Vice President, Communications, of Fusion Power Associates (FPA). In this
post, he will provide advice and guidance to FPA on improving FPA
communications within the community and with the public and will continue
to maintain portions of the FPA web site. The post is a voluntary service
to Fusion Power Associates. Mark continues his full time professional
position as a Research Scientist and Lecturer in Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering at UCSD and Associate Director of the UCSD Center for Energy
Research.
Mark received his Ph.D in nuclear engineering from MIT in 1983. He was a
member of the Institute for Plasma and Fusion Research at UCLA from 1983 to
1994 and then spent one year as a Guest Research Scientist at the
Forschungszentrum in Karlsuhe, Germany before joining the fusion group at
UCSD. He was Engineering Leader for the U.S. Fusion Power Plant Studies
Program, 1994-2002. In 1998, he was chosen by Fusion Power Associates Board
of Directors as a recipient of its Excellence in Fusion Engineering Award.
