ITER News

The European Union (EU) formally established its "domestic agency" for the implementation of EU contributions to the ITER project. The action was taken by the Council of the European Union at its meeting in Brussels on March 27. The agency will be based in Barcelona, Spain. The agency will also oversee the EU contribution to the "broader approach" fusion agreement with Japan.

The Korean National Assembly ratified the ITER agreement April 2. This opens the way for the establishment of the Korean domestic agency for the implementation of Korean contributions to ITER.

Representatives of the seven ITER Parties met in Marseilles on March 27-28. Agreement was reached on the establishment of two important committees: the Management Advisory Committee (MAC) and the Scientific and Technological Advisory Committee (STAC). The MAC will have its first meeting at the end of May.

The U.S ITER domestic agency is planning to issue a request for proposal for gyrotron procurement, valued at "greater than $1 million." http://www.usiter.org/pro/busopps.shtml or contact: kizerkt@ornl.gov
