The purpose of the workshop is "to assess near-term and long-term research opportunities and to update plans as they pertain to inertial fusion energy and the associated high energy density physics and technologies."

The workshop format will include plenary overviews, panel discussions and breakout sessions to discuss key topics in more detail.
