APS Award for Excellence in Plasma Physics

The American Physical Society (APS) has issued a call Nominations for the John Dawson Award for Excellence in Plasma Physics Research

This award was established in 1981. Prior to 2007, it was named the APS Award for Excellence in Plasma Physics Research.

The nomination deadline is April 3, 2007.

Nominations are open to scientists of all nationalities regardless of the geographical site at which the work was done.

The nomination package requires only a nominating letter, at least two seconding letters, and a list of important publications.

Although web-site indicates five (5) copies of nominations and supporting documentation for the 2007 Prize should be sent to the Chair of the 2007 Selection Committee (Nermin Uckan at uckanna@ornl.gov), you are strongly urged to submit nominations electronically.

APS 2007 John Dawson Award for Excellence in Plasma Physics Research

Purpose: To recognize a particular recent outstanding achievement in 
plasma physics research.

Nature: The award consists of $5,000 to be divided equally in the 
case of multiple recipients, and includes a certificate citing the 
contributions made by the recipient or recipients, to be presented at 
an award ceremony at the Division of Plasma Physics Annual Meeting 
Banquet. It will be awarded annually.

Establishment and Support: This award was established in 1981 with 
support from friends of the Division of Plasma Physics. Prior to 
2007, it was originally named Award for Excellence in Plasma Physics 
Research.

Rules and Eligibility: Nominations are open to scientists of all 
nationalities regardless of the geographical site at which the work 
was done. It may be a given to a set of individuals as well as to 
individual scientists, as appropriate, to honor those who make 
essential contributions to the cited research achievement. 
Nominations are active for three years.

Nomination Deadline: April 3, 2007. Please send nominations and 
supporting documentation electronically to the chair
