USDOE Seeks SciDAC Proposals
January 10, 2006
The Office of Science (SC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has published an
announcement seeking proposals for the second phase of the Scientific
Discovery through Advanced Computing (SciDAC) research program.
In the area of fusion energy sciences, successful applicants must devise a
multi-disciplinary research strategy that addresses both the plasma science
and computational science challenges in one of two areas:
- The development of techniques to facilitate international fusion
collaboration, since international cooperation is of increasing importance
for research in Fusion Energy Sciences.
- The development of an integrated software environment for
multi-physics, multi-scale simulations of fusion plasmas, including the
algorithms, software methodology, and framework for designing, building, and
validating the software components needed for comprehensive plasma
simulations.
