In Memoriam: Tatiana Davydova

May 5, 2005

Professor Tatiana Davydova, a prominent Ukrainian physicist passed away April 10 in Kiev. She was a well-known theorist in plasma physics and long-time Head of the Department of Plasma Theory, Kiev Institute for Nuclear Research.

Her main interest was nonlinear plasma physics. She published more than 100 articles on the linear and nonlinear mode conversion in plasmas, the wave phenomena in non-equilibrium and non-uniform plasmas, interactions of radiation and particle beams with plasmas, solitons and vortices, the instabilities in fusion plasmas. She was conducting fruitful collaboration with colleagues from Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA and Russia.

Prof. T. Davydova was a careful supervisor for many PhD students who are working at the laboratories throughout the world. She was a member of the Expert Council, Supreme Certifying Commission at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
