Fast Ignition Workshop Planned

The 8th Workshop on Fast Ignition of Fusion Targets will be held in Tarragona, Spain June 29 - July 1, 2005. Details can be found at: http://mauro.etsii.upm.es/EPS/FIW2005.htm

It is organized by J. Honrubia (chair), D. Batani and J. Meyer-ter-Vehn as part of the 32th EPS Conference on Plasma Physics http://eps2005.ciemat.es/

The Workshop intends to highlight cone-guided fast ignition and other innovative concepts as well as all physics relevant to fast ignition. Also, the new petawatt laser facilities presently under construction to investigate these areas experimentally will find high attention in the Workshop.

Fast ignition of IFE targets
Relativistic laser-plasma interactions
Fast electron transport
Laser-generated ion beams
Particle acceleration with few cycle laser pulses X-ray generation by short
laser pulses
Ultrafast diagnostics
Alternative ignition concepts

Nuclear Science by ultra-high intensity lasers
