Matzen Named Pulsed Power Head at Sandia

Keith Matzen has been promoted to the position of Director of Pulsed Power Sciences Center at Sandia National Laboratories effective Friday, January 7, 2005. He succeeds Jeff Quintenz, who has accepted a position as President of Lockheed Martin Nevada Operations. The announcement was made by Pace VanDevender, CTO and Vice President of Science, Technology, and Partnerships Division, Sandia National Laboratories.

Keith has recently served as a Level II Manager in the Pulsed Power Sciences Center and as the Sandia Program Manager for Inertial Confinement Fusion and for High Energy Density Physics. Van Devender said, "Keith's knowledge of pulsed power and of the physics of high energy density matter and his relationships with our customers, the leaders of the other laboratories, and other Sandians equip him well to lead Sandia Pulsed Power Sciences as a capable partner with other institutions to serve our customers interests and push the boundaries of what is possible.
