ITER Site Still Undecided

November 9, 2004

Contrary to a Reuters report on November 8 that Japan would concede the ITER site to Europe, the vice ministers of the 6 ITER Parties, meeting in Vienna November 9, were not able to reach agreement on the siting question. Japan and Europe are still each standing firm on having the site. The European Council of Ministers will take up the issus at their next meeting, November 25. The ITER Parties hope to meet again in December in Moscow.

Details of the ITER saga are posted on the FIRE website (http://fire.pppl.gov).
