Miley Honored by IEEE

The IEEE Fusion Technology award, given to a person recognized for outstanding contributions to research and development in the fields of fusion technology, was presented to Prof. George H. Miley at the IEEE SOFE-2003 Conference in San Diego, October 15-17.

His award reads:

"For many innovative contributions to the advancement of alternate confinement fusion concepts and technology, for pioneering the development of fusion neutron sources for industrial applications, for educating and mentoring a generation of the IEEE/NPSS Symposium on Fusion Engineering."

Miley is a Professor of Nuclear Plasma, and Radiological Engineering and Electrical/Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus. He is recognized internationally for his research on innovative fusion plasma confinement concepts and studies of advanced fuel fusion. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, American Nuclear Society, and IEEE.
