FESAC to Meet November 17-18

October 14, 2003

The U.S. Department of Energy's Fusion Energy Sciences Advisory Committee (FESAC) will meet November 17-18 at the Quality Suites in Gaithersburg, Maryland, rather than the previously announced dates of January 22-23, 2004.

The main purpose of the meeting is to obtain the view of FESAC on how the DOE might deal with the recommendations of the National Academies Burning Plasma Assessment Committee (BPAC) recent report (FPN03-57). In particular, the FESAC will discuss plans for how to proceed with prioritizing fusion research efforts in the "era of U.S. participation in the ITER project," as recommended by the BPAC.

Preliminary reports will also be heard from currently active FESAC panels on Workforce Development, Inertial Fusion Energy and Committee of Visitors.

The Quality Suites is located at 3 Research Court, Rockville, Maryland, (301)840-0200.
