Award Nominations Sought

Nominations are being sought for three awards: (1) Fusion Power Associates Excellence in Fusion Engineering Award; (2) Marshall Rosenbluth Fusion Theory Award; (3) Edward Teller Medal

FUSION POWER ASSOCIATES EXCELLENCE IN FUSION ENGINEERING AWARD has been given annually since 1987 in memory of MIT Nuclear Engineering Professor David J. Rose. The purpose is to recognize and encourage fusion engineering professionals in the early part of their careers (maximum age 42). Nominations will be judged on technical accomplishments and demonstrated leadership qualities. Nominating material should include letters of recommendation, including letters from persons outside of the nominee's home institution. Potential for becoming an exceptionally influential leader in the fusion field will be an important consideration in selecting the recipient. MARSHALL ROSENBLUTH FUSION THEORY AWARD, is a visiting or post-doc position at General Atomics working on a mutually agreed upon theory topic. Recipients will be promising young theorists, less than 40 years of age. Applications must be made by February 1. EDWARD TELLER MEDAL, sponsored by the American Nuclear Society, is given in recognition of pioneering research and leadership in the use of lasers, ion-particle beams or other high intensity drivers to produce unique high density matter for scientific research and to conduct investigations of inertial fusion. Deadline for nominations is February 14. Nominating material must include curriculum vitae and two letters of recommendation from people working in the field.
