PPPL Celebration, June 5-7

May 24, 2002

The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory invites all members of the international fusion research community and other interested parties to join them in celebrating 50 years of fusion and plasma physics research. The Laboratory was established on July 1, 1951 under a contract between Princeton University and the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, recognizing the pioneering contributions of Professor Lyman Spitzer, Jr. in inventing the stellarator concept and describing many of the underlying principles of plasma physics on which fusion research is based.

In addition to a three day symposium, the event will feature a banquet, reception and tour of the Laboratory. The program, registration forms and hotel information can be found at http://www.pppl.gov/50th_celebration/index.html

Confirmed speakers include:
DOE Under Secretary Bob Card;
