Celebration of Life of John Dawson, May 18

On May 18th, the UCLA College of Letters and Science, the Physics and Astronomy Department, and the Plasma Science and Technology Institute will be hosting a celebration of John Dawson's life and career. The celebration is expected to bring together colleagues, students, friends, and family of John Dawson from all over the world. This celebration will be an opportunity to share our good fortune in having crossed paths with such a great man and scientist, and that it will do justice to his memory. Dawson, a pioneer of the US fusion program, died last November (FPN01-77).

The celebration will consist of a day of talks followed by a reception and banquet in the evening. The celebration will also include a buffet style lunch. Banquet tickets will cost $30 per person. During the banquet there be will an opportunity to share your favorite stories of John. All of the events will be held at the Deneve Plaza and Bradley Building on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles. For those that are interested, there will also be a US/Japan Workshop on the simulation of plasmas on the two days prior to the celebration. Information on this workshop can also be found on the web page.
