Memorial Service for H. Furth, April 25

The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory is planning a Memorial
Service for Professor Harold P. Furth at the Laboratory at 1:00 PM on
Thursday, April 25. All his friends are invited to attend the service in
the Melvin B.Gottlieb Auditorium. The service will be
followed by a dedication of the PPPL Library in Harold's name and a
reception. Additional information is available at

Harold P. Furth, a pioneer in the U.S. fusion program and the originator of
the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR)
project, died February 21, 2002 in Philadelphia at the age of 72
(FPN02-060. Harold was a giant of fusion science, a person of untiring
energy and boundless optimism. He buoyed all of us. Harold was Director
of PPPL from 1981 through 1990.
